Gone in Sixty Seconds. Troy. Salt. Oceans Eleven. Mr. & Mrs. Smith. After years of speculation and rumor, two of most recognizable faces to any film fanatic are tying the knot. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been a couple since 2005 and are the parents to six children: Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox and Vivienne. Maddox , Zahara and Pax are all adopted (from Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam respectively).
News outlets began reporting the news last week and Pitt’s manager finally confirmed it on Friday. Pitt, 48, worked with well-known Beverly Hills jeweler Robert Procop to design a custom ring for Jolie, 36. Both Pitt and Jolie have said that their children put a great deal of pressure on them to tie the knot.
“You don’t have to be married to be committed to a partner or family,” Jolie is quoted as saying. “We’ve explained to them that our commitment, when we decided to tart a family, was the greatest commitment you could possibly have.”
“It means something to them,” Pitt told CBS News. “It’s a great idea. ‘Get mommy a ring.’ ‘Okay, I will, I will.”
A date for the couple’s wedding has not been set.
